Another School Post.

It's that time of year again, and it seems like all over the web, bloggers are sharing the first days of school. As you all know, my oldest squidlet is getting ready for her very first day of school. We've bought the uniforms, pencils, and lunch box, and have been peeking at all the goodness and pinned some really cool ideas. For instance,

This would be cute!

We are doing this for a warm-up.

and, I'm getting ideas for cute hair.

What are you doing to get ready for school? Am I over planning? Under planning?

Pigeons.

Yesterday, I really thought outside my culinary box. I cooked pigeon. That's right, pigeon. I know what you are thinking, and it wasn't anything like the pigeons in say, New York.
These were seriously big country pigeons, like the size of ducks.
The Squid had a co-worker that was kind enough to share some of his pigeon with us, cleaned, de-boned, and ready to cook.

Here are the 8 breasts that were given to us, before I cooked them.

Here they are as I cooked them. I coated the pan with butter and seasoned the breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and basil. I read over and over to serve them rare to medium rare, so I just seared them for a few minutes on each side.

As far as taste goes, amazing! It tastes just like steak! Weird right?!?! Now I know why Jamie Oliver has fooled people into thinking his pigeon sandwich was a steak sandwich. It is so good!
Wondrous enough our squidlets loved it...never mind I told them it was chicken.
(Call it an ode to Aunt P.)
I am so grateful that The Squid has such generous co-workers!

I am Home.

We have finally arrived. Actually we have been here for 2 weeks, but we finally got good internet on Monday. It has been a whirlwind of exiting happenings. So far, we have been exploring a little, signed up for a tennis club, been to a baby shower, helped out in a bake sale, completed almost all of our unpacking, and had 2 playdates! Oh my yes, we are on a roll! Our house is lovely, The Squid picked it out all on his lonesome and I have to say he did well!

The kids were amazing on during our epic 25 hour door to door trip, consisting of 4 planes and 3 vehicles, thank you to all who helped out with that! They hardly cried and only threw 1 really ugly fit between them. Could have been much worse! I am so glad that I made the harnesses, they saved my sanity more than once and the play mats were a hit. I wish I had a picture of the pipe cleaner glasses that were made for me! They were dubbed my fancy plane glasses!

I haven't really gotten to do much crafting yet due to the nature of moving and unpacking, but I am almost done with my craft room and hope to be turning out projects in no time.
Thankfully all of my machines work just fine after the move!

The one project I have gotten to do was for the kids room.
I was at home alone one night with a deep need to make something.
So I took 1 of 3 paper lanterns we have had a while, some tissue paper, scissors, a stencil, and double-sided tape.  After a couple of hours I had a new paper lantern! I love it and I'll put up a picture as soon as the kids room is finally done. :)

Hope you are all having a great week!
