Even though I love tea, today I NEED COFFEE!

As with most women, weight has and probably will be on my mind (as well as my butt) always. Since I had my son I have tried to make some changes to facilitate a healthier lifestyle. Part of this is trying to find better ways to devour some of my favorites, case in point Starbucks. I LOVE Starbucks, it REALLY rings my bell, but as most of you know it's not just hard on a diet it is also murder on a budget. So, I have found a loverly substitute.
2 rounded teaspoons instant coffee ( I am going to test it with fresh coffee next time.)
2 teaspoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon of sugar or your favorite sweetener
1/4 cup of boiling water
2 cups of fat free milk
1 cup of ice
I just mix the coffee, sugar, and cocoa in a lidded mason jar, then add the water and mix again until everything is dissolved. Finally add the milk. I like mine over ice so I add the ice directly to the jar when I add the milk and shake a bit before drinking, but I'm sure you could blend it and have a nice fake frap.
All the amounts can be tweaked to your taste. I add a touch more cocoa, and yes I am aware I have a problem.
Anyway, this is a healthier and MUCH cheaper way to enjoy a delish coffee drink.

And so it begins......

So, here it is my first post as a blogger. My name is Katie and I am the mom of two and a proud Navy wife. My world revolves around my squid and squidlets, and I am always looking to create or learn ways to make their lives the best they can be.
We are Texans, but we reside in Maryland for the moment and I am surrounded by some of the most creative and wonderful broads I've ever met. I started this blog to share what understanding I have for the day to day military spouse life, and all my adventures and mishaps with my family and friends. I cook, sew, craft, read, break out in song and dance, travel, and anything else creative I can come up with.
There have been alot of new things in our lives in the last seven or so months, but the main things are our second baby and our start into the world of cloth diapering.  So, stop by again and hopefully we can learn from each other.
